most successful appeal - july 20, 2010
FRANS would like to thank the many donors, supporters, and community fundraisers who helped make our Winter Appeal the most successful appeal campaign to date. It quadrupled takings made in last year's effort, and we have had wonderful feedback from those individuals who held a lunch or event for FRANS, on what a great time they had getting in touch with the people who support them!
l(a)unch for life stages - april 28, 2010
Come on down to Burwood Park (opposite Westfield Burwood) at midday this Friday April 30, 2010 to celebrate FRANS' first Lunch for the Life Stages Appeal. This event will bring together FRANS staff, participants, government representatives and community members in a celebration of the support networks that FRANS provides to people in need.
If you are unable to attend our launch event, you might like to consider holding your own lunch for FRANS. Invite your friends, family, local community group or work colleagues to share a meal and good company - company that we often take for granted but could by no means do without. Please contact FRANS if you would like to host a lunch and help FRANS raise funds for people with a disability who may not be able to create these important support networks so easily.

FRANS NEW CENTRE OPENIng - february 18, 2010
Access OneEleven, at 111 Edwin Street North, Croydon was officially opened by the Hon. Virginia Judge MP on the afternoon of February 16, 2010. The event, which kicked off with a roaring performance by the CP and Day Programs house band, orchestrated by musical therapist Reah Monet, was a wonderful celebration of the innovative programs FRANS has developed to be run out of this centre. Access OneEleven (affectionately, A1) provides space for Day Programs for adults with moderate to high support needs, office space for staff, and a shopfront for FRANS Plants. The minister's speech was warm and encouraging and her ribbon cutting ceremony (pictured left) gracious and spirited. FRANS would like to thank Ms Judge, and all other guests and well wishers, for taking the time to celebrate A1 and its vast potential for enhancing the lives of people with a disability with FRANS.
artz my ability for idpwd - December 3, 2009
Ethnic Child Care, Family and Community Services hosted a joint art initiative with Burwood Council this year for International Day for People with a Disability and invited FRANS to take part. The Artz my Ability event, held at woodstock Centre Burwood on December 3, 2009 featured multi-cultural dance performances, music workshops and art workshops. FRANS was delighted to support Ethnic Child Care in this event by taking the For Art's Sake exhibition to the public again and filling up the ballroom walls with wonderful, colourful canvases.
Over 150 Participants, families and carers from the Inner West attended the event, many of whom access FRANS services and contributed artworks to this exhibition. It provided a great opportunity for these guests, as well as other service providers and dignitaries such as Mayor of Burwood, Clr John Sidoti, to see the inclusive spriit with which FRANS approaches the skills and achievements of people with a disability.
FOR ART'S SAKE: An ANONYMOUS EXHIBITION AND A ROARING SUCCESS - november 5, 2009
At 6pm, Wednesday 4 November at the Addison Road Gallery, there was a certain buzz in the air. By 6:30pm, the place was swarming with a crowd of over 250 people. They were family, friends, supporters and people with a disability, all come together to celebrate art, for art's sake.
All guests embraced fundraising frenzy with 329 pieces available at a starting price of $65. Bids were quickly 'doubled-up' according to the rules of FRANS' fundraising game, some selling for over $1000. A separate room for silent auction pieces likewise saw some very generous bidders pass through.
FRANS would like to thank all 280+ individuals and groups who donated artworks for sale. Their contributions are in no way small and have made a vital difference to FRANS and its services for people with a disability.
